Second wind: beloved Scienceworks exhibition Air Playground extended by popular demand
Whoosh, squish, flow and fly through Air Playground at Scienceworks, now extended until 27 January 2025.
Thanks to sky-high demand and a daily whirlwind of ecstatic visitors, Scienceworks is excited to announce the extension of popular family-favourite exhibition Air Playground until 27 January 2025.
Since launching in December 2023, Air Playground has captivated visitors with its newest iteration, featuring eight beloved experiences alongside four brand new interactive elements. The most popular exhibition at Scienceworks in over seven years, Air Playground continues to delight, reinforcing Scienceworks’ reputation as Australia’s science museum and a must-visit destination in Melbourne.
The exhibition makes science accessible and thought-provoking for everyone and includes a range of playful updates, including a brand-new and improved Squish bouncy castle. Visitors explore the science of air through 12 interactive and engaging experiences spread across a 600 square-metre space, where complex scientific concepts are transformed into fun, hands-on learning opportunities including:
- Whoosh: Brace yourself for a whirlwind of excitement as you ‘whoosh’ scarves through a tangle of air tubes, then play catch as those scarves float dreamily to the ground.
- Squish: Embark on a full-body experience as you grapple with a colossal, tentacled inflatable sculpture – it's like a giant hug from a cloud!
- Flow: Step into a dreamy breeze-filled wonderland where soft fabric tubes and floating balls that dance with the wind demonstrate mesmerising magic of airflow redirection.
- Fly: Let your inner aviator take off as you craft and launch your very own paper planes in an aerodynamic extravaganza. It's an aviation enthusiast's dream come true!
