Scienceworks is welcoming all curious kids, big and small, to a Spring school holidays full of spectacular science.
Learn about the invisible marvel that is sound by exploring our Air Playground exhibition and enjoying free shows and activities. Complete your visit with a ticket to the Lightning Theatre and Planetarium before exploring the historic Pumping Station through augmented reality with FlushBack.

Exhibitions
Air Playground | 10am to 4:30pm daily
Adults $25, Seniors $20, Child/Concession $10, Member $8 | includes Museum entry
Play with air, the amazing invisible elemental force, and experience hands-on the science of aerodynamics. Whoosh, swirl, gust, squish, flow, float and more at Air Playground! Float objects in mid-air, place material in fast moving air-jets, squish a giant inflatable tentacled sculpture with your body, launch balls sky-high with compressed air and craft paper planes to soar and more.

Good Vibrations | 12 noon & 2pm daily

Discover how sound is created and detected, see slime wiggling to music, and explore the weird ways animals use noise. Our interactive experiments make the invisible forces of sound come to life, leaving you in awe of the wonders that surround us. Fun for all ages, this show is the perfect blend of entertainment and science. Claim your front-row seat for this onsite spectacle.

Take a seat in our Lightning Theatre and be mesmerised by this visually stunning 30-minute live science show exploring the fascinating science behind luminosity and the many ways a glow can be produced.

FlushBack – Scienceworks’ award-winning AR adventure – brings to life the heritage-listed Spotswood Pumping Station. Step back in time and save Melbourne from becoming ‘Smellbourne’. Recommended for ages 8+

Hear some of the smelly stories from the straining well and explore the magnificent engine room as you marvel at the engineering feat that helped overcome the stench of 19th century Melbourne in our daily Pumping Station tours.

Go on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Scienceworks Collection Store to see some of the 40,000 collection items stored at Scienceworks and listen to the stories of these rare and unique items.
