Discover the science of light and colour in this hands-on workshop for early primary school students.

This workshop uses STEM principles to get kids experimenting and designing.

Students will experience

  • An immersive story about Scienceworks’ mascot Dot
  • The captivating phenomena of light, including splitting white light into rainbows and making animated shadows
  • Experimenting with different materials to see the ways that they filter and block light
  • Using an assortment of materials to creatively tell stories and build a night light

Students will learn

  • That light travels in straight lines
  • That when light is blocked we can create shadows and that the path of light can be bent
  • That you can change the colour of light by using filters
  • To apply their STEM skills, including problem solving, creativity, teamwork, communication, and resilience
