Planetarium

Planetarium shows for schools

Years F to 12, VCE

Sit back and enjoy the wonder of the stars regardless of the time of day – or the weather!

The Melbourne Planetarium at Scienceworks features a 16m domed ceiling, reclining seats, a 7.1 surround sound system and a full-dome video projection system. The result is spectacular colour and movement like never before, creating a unique immersive environment and awe-inspiring astronomical experience.

Melbourne Planetarium shows are curriculum-aligned and entertaining for a wide range of learners, with school programs suitable for students across year levels from F - 12. Each show runs for 40–45 minutes, has a capacity for up to 150 students, and includes a live presentation of the current night sky and the major astronomical objects that can be seen. The information presented in these sessions allows anyone to go into their backyard at night and experience the joy of astronomy.

Students will experience a fulldome experience in reclining seats and learn about astronomy and space science in an memorable, inspiring and unique program that can’t be replicated in a classroom.
