For one spectacular day only, Melbourne Museum transforms into a vibrant playground filled with animals, creativity and hands-on discovery.
Bursting with music, movement, storytelling and hands-on activities, celebrate play, wonder and the incredible diversity of life on our planet. Whether you're roaring like a tiger, fluttering like a butterfly or uncovering amazing wildlife from around the world, there's something unforgettable around every corner.
Created especially for kids and families, and open to everyone, this Children's Week celebration is not to be missed.

Join ARIA Award-winning Emma Memma and her playful friend Elvin Melvin as they bring a Jungle Picnic adventure to Melbourne Museum’s Romp & Stomp: Jungle Jamboree. Bursting with catchy songs, Auslan and animal-inspired dance moves, this interactive performance invites little explorers and their families to bop to the jungle beat and let their imaginations run wild. A joyful jungle celebration for the whole family!

Get up close and learn about the unique adaptations, behaviours and survival strategies that help these animals thrive in some of Australia’s most diverse and remarkable habitats.
Join us for a special edition of Story Seekers, featuring engaging stories, playful storytelling and plenty of opportunities to spark curiosity and imagination. Discover new worlds, meet fascinating characters and celebrate the joy of reading.
Get ready to roar, stomp, slither or strut – kids aged 2 to 12 are invited to dress as their favourite animal and take the spotlight! Join the fun, show off your creature costume, and be part of the cutest competition in the kingdom!
Did you know short-finned eels can travel thousands of kilometres to breed in the ocean? See them up close at Milarri Pond during feeding time and learn how these remarkable fish connect culture, Country, and freshwater ecosystems.

Seed Stories: a hands-on family workshop under the theme “Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all.” Inspired by Melbourne Museum’s Our Wondrous Planet, it’s designed for budding nature scientists aged 5+.
Explore incredible habitats and meet the animals that call them home. Through playful storytelling and interactive moments, discover how creatures move, eat, hide and thrive in the world around them.
Kinder shapes the way our children play, learn and grow. From first friendships and lifelong social skills to curiosity and confidence. Speak with Department of Education staff about kinder while your child explores the play space, drawing and more.

Discover the extraordinary insects hiding in Australia's tropical rainforests. Create a wearable mask inspired by the lightning-fast Trap-jaw Ant or the Giant Rainforest Mantis, then learn how these fascinating creatures use speed, camouflage and powerful hunting skills to survive in one of the world's oldest rainforests.
The jungle is calling, and the party is about to begin! Grab some headphones, tune into one of three music channels and dance, sing and let loose to the beat. It’s a silent disco adventure where every little explorer can find their groove!
Dress up and strike a pose! Children enrolled in a kindergarten program, including sessional and long day care, can have an instant photo taken to take home as a special memento of Romp & Stomp: Jungle Jamboree.
