Uncover the science of seeds in this hands-on workshop for kids and families, celebrating the close of National Science Week. Learn about native seeds, ecosystems and the growing knowledge behind how plants support the world around us at Melbourne Museum.
Seed Stories invites families to learn through hands-on activities aligned with the National Science Week theme, Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All.
Designed for children aged 5+ and their families, this 45-minute workshop uncovers the hidden science within seeds and the vital role soil plays in supporting life, connecting directly to ideas in Our Wondrous Planet.
Before the workshop begins, visitors are encouraged to visit the Forest Gallery, where living systems and natural environments provide real-world context for the relationships between soil, plants and seeds.
In the program space, participants will investigate soil as a living system, select native seeds, and plant something meaningful to take home and continue caring for.
Blending observation, science and making, Seed Stories connects museum learning with the living world beyond the Museum. Parents and guardians are welcome to join or observe throughout.
