Travel back to Ancient Rome in this immersive artist led mosaic workshop using hand-cut marble tesserae and traditional hand tools and methods.
Under the guidance of Melbourne based artist Cetta Pilati, you will create a 15cm by 15cm mosaic inspired by the ancient artworks on display in ROME: Empire, Power, People. In this workshop you will learn and practice traditional Roman placement techniques that require no grouting, while gaining a deeper understanding of marble placement and composition.

Located in Treetops. This workshop is for adults 18+. All materials are provided.
Cetta Pilati is a Melbourne-based sculptor working with marble and steel, uniting these materials through traditional, labour-intensive processes. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from RMIT University (1992). Drawing on the Roman mosaic method alongside contemporary metalwork, her practice is grounded in hand craftsmanship, material integrity and a deep respect for enduring techniques.
