Saturday 4 to Friday 10 April

Sleep among the dinosaurs for a once in a lifetime prehistoric adventure and explore the Museum after dark in this unique overnight experience at Melbourne Museum. You’ll also slumber in modern-day comfort on dreamy ergonomic mattresses provided by our event partner, Ecosa.

Embark on and immersive journey with Mario, Luigi and Toad are back on the giant IMAX screen for the highly anticipated sequel to THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE with all the snacks and exclusive access to torchlight Dinosaur tours and exclusive access Our Wondrous Planet where you will come face to face with animals from around the world!

The Galaxy awaits! Mario, Luigi and Toad are back on the giant IMAX screen for the highly anticipated sequel to THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE.

THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE is an animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros., and follows The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

The torchlight Dinosaur tour is exclusive to the Museum Sleepovers. Get your torches ready and go on a journey to meet the Melbourne Museum Triceratops, one of the most complete Triceratops fossils ever found. Unearthed after 67 million years, our Triceratops belongs to the species Triceratops horridus but is affectionately known as Horridus. The torchlight tour starts in the Dinosaur Walk and concludes with Triceratops and is hosted by our expert children's guide.

Discover a world four billion years in the making. In Our Wondrous Planet, you’ll come face to face with animals from around the world. Step into their vibrant ecosystems and experience the incredible connections that unite all life on Earth.

Play your part in helping to shape a thriving future for our planet. Become part of Earth's incredible living systems: ride the swirling currents of the ocean, connect with intriguing creatures and vast root networks beneath the soil, and join in the magical moment when a coral reef starts its life cycle.

Soar through the lush rainforest canopy and come face to face with the majestic animals that call it home. Be immersed in icy polar realms, where seals and whales glide through freezing waters.

Journey into the Dynamic Earth Gallery past rare and beautiful minerals, giant crystals, uncut diamonds and gold nuggets, some of them even glow in the dark! Marvel at the little pieces of space that come to us, including meteorites from Mars and the Moon, and map the 177 craters and impact sites across the globe. You might even be one of the few people in the world to get to hold a meteorite!

(Purchase a ticket and then fill out the consent form here or in your confirmation email to choose your breakfast and let us know about your group)

Please note: If you have not ordered your breakfast, we will order you a full adult breakfast and a child's ham and cheese toastie.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Sleepovers are designed for kids 6 to 12 or 8 to 17 (see itinerary) and their accompanying parent/carer.  

Where possible, children will be grouped according to age. Please ensure a consent form is completed for each child attending so they are grouped correctly. 

Siblings will be grouped together unless otherwise requested by their parents/guardians. 

When available, you'll need to purchase a ticket online from this page. Tickets are subject to terms and conditions.

Each adult can be accompanied by up to three children.

If you have two or more adults accompanying a larger group, each set of tickets must be purchased separately, but you can let us know that you wish to be in the same group by indicating this on your consent form.

Please note, children can't attend without an adult present.

Please note, cancellations of tickets must occur fourteen (14) days prior to the event. Please contact us at 13 11 02 if you have any queries about your tickets.  

We'll need the child's legal guardian to fill in a consent form which will need to be sent with the booking confirmation.

The child's legal guardian must complete this before the event.

Our event partner, Ecosa will provide mattresses in single size with a mattress protector for you to sleep on. Eye mask for adult guests will be available to take home.

You and the attendees within your party will be placed in an assigned sleeping area in the Dinosaur Walk on the ground floor.

Staff will be stationed at entrances/exits to provide assistance.

No. We do not allow guests to bring alcohol into the Museum.

No alcohol or outside food is to be brought on site by visitors, but we do ask that you bring a bottle of water for the night. We will be catering for a snack and breakfast so there should be no need to bring food/drink.

To make everyone’s evening enjoyable, we ask that guests follow these rules:

  • Running and yelling are not permitted in the Museum.
  • Accompanying adults must stay with their children throughout the entire event. They are responsible for the behavior of their group.
  • Guests are not permitted to play on stairways or lifts and are expected to be courteous.
  • Guests may not visit areas of the Museum that are off-limits.
  • Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Alcohol is not allowed during sleepovers. Violators will be asked to leave.
  • Mobile phones should be put on vibrate or silent mode.
  • Respect your fellow attendees.

The Museum closes to the public from 5pm and re-opens for the sleepover event at 6pm. Registration will begin at 6:15pm. Before that time, you will be asked to wait outside the Museum entrance.

You can enter the Museum using the main entrance between Nicholson St and Rathdowne St.

Please bring your booking confirmation with you on the night.

During registration, you will be placed into a group where you'll meet your group leader and see where you'll be sleeping.

Attendees will remain in these groups throughout the evening.

Everyone can sleep soundly, close to their friends and family. We have a maximum of 50 guests sleeping over, so it is easy for a trained security guard and Museum Duty Manager to oversee everyone's safety and ensure all have the best time.
