Exhibition research project
Identity: Yours, Mine, Ours
An Australian Research Council study was undertaken from 2012-15 by Museums Victoria in partnership with Deakin University, University of Melbourne and the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation.
The study used the Identity exhibition at the Immigration Museum to test the public role of museums in countering racism and promoting positive attitudes and acceptance of diversity by focusing on secondary school students and their teachers in Melbourne. The qualitative data gathered and analysed proved to be powerful and revealing.
