Love is in the Stars
6PM & 6:45PM | PLANETARIUM | SHOW
Hear ancient celestial love stories in a specially curated live 35-minute planetarium show. As you journey through the galaxy, you’ll gaze up at Melbourne’s night sky before flying off planet Earth and out among the stars. See spectacular views of amorous astronomical destinations and marvel at the beauty of the vast universe.
Big Astronomy
7:30PM | PLANETARIUM | SHOW
In Big Astronomy, journey to three world-class observatories in Chile’s rugged Andes Mountains and arid Atacama Desert – remote, extreme regions that happen to have the perfect conditions for astronomical research. Along the way, you’ll meet an inspiring cast of astronomers, engineers, technicians and support staff who keep these mega-machines running.
Particle/Wave
9PM | PLANETARIUM | SHOW
“Particle/Wave” is a fulldome immersive multimedia exploration of gravitational waves at the point where poetry, video art, music and science intersect. Gravitational waves are ripples in space-time, traveling away from exploding stars, merging black holes and other cosmological phenomena. How do we observe this discovery through the lens of humanity? What stories do gravitational waves tell?
Museum of the Moon
6 to 10PM | PLANETARIUM FOYER | EXHIBITION
This stunning art/science installation showcases our breathtaking Moon in flawless detail – four metres in diameter and covered in realistic details of the lunar surface. Gaze up at its wonders in the Planetarium Foyer.
