Sleepovers are available at Scienceworks for groups of between 20 and 50 primary-age students. We offer a Planetarium show and activities on the night of your sleepover, space to roll out your sleeping bag, supper, breakfast and overnight security.

Sleepover programs begin at 7:00pm so have your evening meal beforehand. After an exclusive exhibition viewing (outside of normal visiting hours) the next morning you depart Scienceworks by 9.45 am or you can stay on and book another program.

Please note:

Currently Melbourne Water is managing a worksite at Scienceworks, renewing the sewer pipes running under the Yarra river with occasional night work.

This year, the students and teachers will be sleeping in the Planetarium foyer to minimise the impact of possible noise levels coming from outside.

The Planetarium foyer is one large room. If this is a problem for your school, please let the Booking Officers know.

Terms and conditions

Terms and Conditions for sleepover bookings are being introduced from 2019. This is to prevent late cancellations and to ensure as many schools as possible are able to take advantage of our popular sleepover program. Please read carefully before you make a booking.

• Cancellations must be made no later than 12 weeks prior to day of visit. We require cancellations to be sent in writing to: [email protected]
• Cancellations after 12 weeks prior to date of visit, will incur 25% of total cost of the excursion.
• Final numbers must be provided one week before visit.
• We understand that numbers attending on the day may vary slightly from the time of booking, however schools will be charged no less than 90% of the total numbers booked for the sleepover at the time of confirmation.
