Museums Victoria / Melbourne Museum / What's on / Guided Tour for Kids in Italian - ROME: Empire, Power, People

Step into the world of gladiators, emperors, mischievous gods and bustling Roman streets with our special kids-focused guided tour of ROME: Empire, Power, People

Designed especially for curious young minds, this age-appropriate tour brings Ancient Rome to life through fascinating stories, surprising facts and some of the more humorous moments from archaeological history (yes, even the strange and silly ones!).

Get up close to the original statues, mosaics, frescoes, jewellery and everyday objects from the humblest to the most sumptuous, in this Melbourne-exclusive exhibition. From powerful emperors and dramatic political plots to busy marketplaces, Roman baths and curious daily rituals, children will discover what life was really like in one of history’s greatest civilisations.

Through engaging storytelling and interactive discussion, our museum guide will explore:

  • What Roman kids wore, ate and played
  • How emperors showed off their power
  • The gods Romans believed in (and how they caused trouble!)
  • The funny, fascinating and sometimes surprising discoveries archaeologists have made

With over 150 objects on display - many seen in Melbourne for the first time - this immersive exhibition combines dramatic scenography and multimedia to create a vivid journey back in time.

Families are welcome to stay and continue exploring the exhibition at their own pace after the tour concludes.

Perfect for primary school–aged children and their grown-ups, with conversational Italian language ability.

CO.AS.IT. is a leading provider of Italian language and cultural programs in Melbourne, located in Carlton.
