Take a biogeographical tour of Earth.

In this science and geography curriculum-aligned excursion, students in Years 9 and 10 explore global biomes through digital and in-exhibition immersive experiences. They unpack the dynamics of climate change and the human activities that cause it.

Facilitated by a museum educator, students will explore the deep connections people have with the environment and leave hopeful in our capacity for change for a sustainable future.

Students will experience

  • Experience a unique immersive experience exploring ecosystems of Victoria.
  • Visit Our Wondrous Planet, Melbourne Museum's newest exhibition.
  • Explore the rich diversity of life across planet earth.
  • Exploring the latest research and approaches on mitigating human impacts across biomes of the world.

Students will learn

  • About the interactions of atmospheric gases and the carbon cycle in human-induced climate change.
  • How different climactic regions across the globe support distinctive biomes, with differing plant and animal life.
  • That the wide variety of environments on earth are all impacted differently by human activity.
  • How scientific research has revealed mind-blowing interactions on global and local scales, and is helping solve some of the greatest challenges we face.

Students will be provided

  • Pre and post visit resources.
  • In-exhibition tool to allow in-depth exploration of classification.
