Dome Under Film Festival 2026 Submissions

The Dome Under Festival is back in 2026! The Melbourne Planetarium is pleased to invite you to participate in the Dome Under Fulldome Festival, the only Fulldome Film Festival in Australia.

The festival will take place at the Melbourne Planetarium January 30 – February 1, 2026.

The three-day film festival will be a celebration of the fulldome film format, and it will promote the medium to a wider audience. The festival is independent and open to contributions from all around the world.

The Dome Under Festival is the only fulldome festival in Australia. It will showcase recent fulldome productions from around the world to an audience comprising planetarium professionals, fulldome filmmakers and the public. This festival will be a celebration of the fulldome film format, and it will promote the medium to a wider audience. The festival is independent and open to contributions from all around the world.

Filmmakers, producers and distributors may apply to present full-length feature shows or short films (including student works). All films entered into the festival must have been completed on or after January 1, 2024. All films will be curated and nominated for screening at the festival. A Pre-selection Committee will determine which films will be screened at the festival and included into the Festival Competition. An independent Festival Jury will then award the following prizes:

- Best Science Film

- Best Children’s Film

- Best Narrative Film

- Best Experimental Film

- Best Short Film
