The Sportsworks exhibition at Scienceworks is curriculum-aligned for secondary school excursions, focusing on the advanced science of movement and health. Students will engage with interactive displays that explore biomechanics, human physiology, and fitness science, all directly linked to health, physical education, and biology curriculum areas.
Students will experience
- Explore advanced biomechanics through exhibits that illustrate the forces and motions involved in human movement and athletic performance.
- Engage with interactive displays to understand the role of muscles, bones, and joints in movement, including the impact of different sports and injuries to the human body.
- Investigate the cardiovascular and respiratory systems by participating in activities that simulate how exercise affects heart and lung functions.
- Measure their physical performance through challenges such as racing against Cathy Freeman or testing their reaction times and balance.
- Examine the science behind sports technology by learning about innovations in equipment design and materials that optimize athletic performance.
