Solar System Adventures: The Planets

Years 1 to 2

Journey through space to visit the planets of our solar system and find out what makes them unique.

In this exciting adventure across our solar system, students will journey around our blazing sun, through the rings of Saturn, across the dusty red surface of Mars and beyond, as they learn about the planets orbiting our sun.

This planetarium show is presented live by a museum educator, and is designed for students in lower primary school to get excited about what lies beyond Earth.

Students will experience

  • The night sky as viewed from Earth, with stars, constellations, planets and the moon
  • Flying through the solar system, through the rings of Saturn, and around the Sun
  • What makes each planet unique, such as the storms of Jupiter, the thick hot atmosphere of Venus and the ancient volcanoes on Mars

Students will learn

  • That the solar system is made up of planets, moons and other things that orbit around our sun.
  • That the sun is a star like others in the sky, but much closer to us.
  • That there are eight planets in our solar system.
  • About some of the differences between planets in our solar system, including the weather, environment and other features.
