Explore a world teeming with life at Nocturnal, your adults only invite to experience Melbourne Museum up late and child free.

Join us for the ultimate date night or friends’ night out, Nocturnal: Action Reaction is all about the forces that move us, from the laws of physics and motion to the ripple effects of protest and activism. Spark ideas and learn something new with a full program of expert led talks and tours. Ignite your creativity with fun activities for adults. Choose your own adventure with after-hours child-free access to our collections and exhibitions.

Popping up across Melbourne's cultural landmarks, the part dance, part kinetic installation dance piece Free Steps-Grand Canyon by Taiwanese collective HORSE will perform this site-responsive work at the Musuem as a duet between a human body and a giant sheet of paper. Shifting, folding and crumpling, flesh and paper press against each other until something new emerges. Motion becomes meaning, and texture becomes storytelling.

On the main stage, music will be provided by party starter and renowned DJ Rosie Rai.
