Are they any Halloween costume restrictions?

Melbourne Museum proudly welcomes people from all cultures and backgrounds, and we encourage everyone to keep this in mind when creating their amazing costumes for our all ages Halloween event.

To help you plan please be aware of the following guidelines.

  • Costumes must be safe, family-friendly and not offensive or culturally insensitive.
  • Masks should be easily removed if requested
  • Leave stilts, skates, scooters, drones, and balloons at home.
  • All props will  be assessed at the door and goes without saying that any real, replica or metal weapons are banned
  • Only safe props like foam, plastic or lightweight timber are welcome. Toy guns must be brightly coloured and never loaded with projectiles.

Please note that any props  that appear dangerous or too realistic will be held by our team for the night, and bag checks will take place at the door for all guests.

What about Wet weather?

Halloween at Melbourne Museum will go ahead rain or shine!

Most activities are indoors or under cover, so the spooky fun will continue even if it’s a bit wet outside. If you’re planning to explore outdoor areas, please bring a raincoat and wear weather-appropriate footwear.

We can’t wait to celebrate Halloween with you, rain,  spooky wind or sunshine!
