Presented as part of PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival, this three-part Fashion Talks Series explores the role of STEM in fashion.
Presented as part of PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival, this three-part Fashion Talks Series explores the integral role STEM plays in transforming the garments we wear and the stories they tell, encouraging you to move beyond traditional ways of viewing the fashion industry.
In this talk, discover how 3D garment design and virtual twin technology are transforming the future of fashion.
Supported by Box Hill Institute, this session explores 3D software that empowers designers to virtually test a garment’s drape, stretch and fit before it’s ever physically made. At the centre of this process is the virtual twin: a highly realistic digital simulation of a garment worn on a virtual model.
The result? A more precise, sustainable and data-driven design process that helps reduce overproduction and environmental impact. STEM for the win!
A live demonstration will bring the process to life, showing a garment’s journey from flat pattern to 3D simulation and how virtual twins are the solution between digital design and real-world production.
Ticket inclusion: Your Fashion Talks ticket also includes free access to Melbourne Museum to explore at your leisure before or after the event.
