Experience the power and beauty of Siva Afi in Afi: Rise Through Flame, a short immersive film by Logan Tapuala.
This captivating digital story, now showing in the Learning Lab at Melbourne Museum follows Logan’s personal journey from Melbourne to Samoa and back, and how the traditional Samoan fire dance helped shape his identity as a Samoan Australian.
Afi: Rise Through Flame combines storytelling, movement and fire to explore the power of culture, discipline, and belonging. For Logan, Siva Afi is more than performance – it’s a transformative practice that builds confidence, strengthens community, and keeps culture burning bright.
Produced with Museums Victoria and co-created by Logan Tapuala, Rita Seumanutafa-Palala and Morwenna Petaia, this digital work is part of Culture Makers – a groundbreaking program bringing underrepresented voices into museum spaces through co-created storytelling.
Culture Makers has been made possible thanks to the generous support of The Scanlon Foundation.
