Students will explore key influences and events that have shaped Melbourne since 1835 in the Melbourne Story exhibition.
Students will experience
- A snapshot of the history of Melbourne from 1835.
- Over 1200 irreplaceable objects from Victoria's state collection.
- Ride in a restored Luna Park Big Dipper carriage.
- Step back in time to 1890s Little Lonsdale Street through visiting replica workers’ cottages.
- The music and sounds of Melbourne’s past.
- Different perspectives of the city.
- Interactive displays to see how Melbourne and suburbs have changed over time.
Students will learn
- How Melbourne has evolved and developed over time.
- How objects and artefacts can build a historical narrative.
- About significant events, ideas, people, groups and movements that contributed to continuity and change in Melbourne.
- That people have varying perspectives and experiences of Melbourne.
