This delightful storytelling session in English and Mandarin will bring Chinese fairytales to life with the enchanting sounds of the guzheng. Perfect for children and families, this gentle cultural experience invites young listeners to tune in closely as the guzheng takes on character roles, and children are encouraged to listen for musical cues to guess when each character will appear!
Celebrate Lunar New Year through music, movement, and hands-on learning. This vibrant session features a live guzheng performance by QiQi alongside traditional Chinese long ribbon fan dance by Madison Lu. Audiences are invited to join a fun, beginner-friendly dance workshop, learning simple moves and cultural meaning behind the flowing fans.
Participants are encouraged to arrive earlier to decorate their fans for the workshop.
Light up the new year with creativity and colour and decorate your own Lunar New Year lanterns, symbolising hope, good fortune, and new beginnings.
You can take your lantern home to continue the celebration or leave it at the Museum to become part of our festive display.
Please note that activity materials are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
QiQi and Madison are Melbourne-based performers bringing Lunar New Year to life through music, movement and colour.
