What does it mean to be part of a culturally diverse society?

Explore themes of identity and belonging through personal stories, compelling objects and interactive multimedia experiences.

Students will experience

  • Multiple ways in which a person identifies through race, culture, citizenship, language, religion, ethnicity and more.
  • How identities intersect within and across groups and communities.
  • The opportunities and challenges of a multicultural society.

Students will learn

  • How cultural heritage, languages, beliefs and family connections influence our self-perceptions and our perceptions of other people.
  • How perceptions can lead to discovery, confusion, prejudice and understanding.
  • To challenge assumptions we make about each other, including interactive experiences on bystander education.

Students will be provided

  • A booklet to guide them through the galleries and to record their findings

Students will need

  • Pen or pencil.

  • Teachers are advised to visit the exhibition and website prior to the group visit in order to prepare students for the exhibition experience.
