Encourage young paleontologists with this collection of activities designed to expand curious minds.  

This resource has been designed for use after Museums Victoria has visited your kindergarten or early learning centre for a Museum in a Van incursion. It has a range of activities and additional information to extend learning in the classroom.   

In this activity students will 

  • Discover the extraordinary way fossils are made.  
  • Investigate the series of events that led to the extinction of dinosaurs. 
  • Search for clues that reveal the relationship between dinosaurs and our humble chicken.  
  • Choose between a range of fun and interactive dino activities.  
  • Explore the secrets of the Triceratops with videos made just for kids. 

Suggested questions to engage students 

  • Why do some dinosaurs have pointy teeth and some dinosaurs have flat teeth?  
  • How do scientists know what happened millions of years ago, what clues could they look for?  
  • Where could you look for fossils?  
  • What can you see is the same and different between birds and dinosaurs?  
  • Why do you think birds could survive the meteorite?
