VCE VET Furnishing students develop the skills and knowledge required to enhance their employment opportunities in the furnishing industry. Using traditional furniture-making techniques, students use hand and power tools to make and assemble components for a range of high-quality furniture items, as can be seen in the excellent works on display. Students also complete industry-specific units focusing on safe and sustainable work practices and career development.

Coffee Table
Victorian ash, Jarrah
My coffee table draws inspiration from 1980s flowing furniture design combined with modern, contemporary use of geometrical angles. My piece has been designed to be functional and visually appealing. I took an interest in pushing native timbers, Victorian Ash and Jarrah, to their limits. Emphasising the unique and natural features of the wood, I used a variety of joins, including domino joins, miter joins and a large cross halving join through the mid-section of the piece.
