Develop students' road safety knowledge and prepare them to become independent travellers.

The free Safe Journeys Program helps Year 6 students become safe, independent travellers ahead of starting secondary school. This resource is designed to prepare students for their visit and guide them through the on site program.

In this activity students will   

  • Gain an understanding of the resources and transport options available to them 
  • Develop road safety knowledge and journey planning skills. 
  • Gain confidence in independently planning safe trips 
  • Reflect on their responsibility for contributing to a safer road network 
  • Be aware that their actions can have an impact at a personal, family and community level.

  • What is your road safety goal? 
  • How has your behaviour or attitude changed as a result of this program? 
  • What ideas do you have for improving road safety around our school? 
  • How can you share this knowledge with others in your community?
