Get ready for your visit to the Home of the Dinosaurs with this collection of activities!

This resource has been designed to support your excursion to Melbourne Museum's dinosaur and fossil exhibitions. It may be used to prepare students for a visit with discussion about what they might see and discover.

Following the visit, use this guide to incorporate the theme of dinosaurs into storytelling and creative text writing, to examine adaptations and finish the week with some palaeontology memory cards!

In this activity students will

  • Prepare for their excursion to the Melbourne Museum.
  • Learn about some of the key objects and dinosaurs they might see.
  • Build literacy skills through reading simple texts, and creative writing.
  • Learn the names of dinosaurs at the museum by playing matching games with their own palaeo card set.
