Use this set of multiple-choice questions to test students’ understanding of content experienced during your visit to Sciencework’s FlushBack AR adventure. 

FlushBack brings to life the rich history and remarkable engineering of the heritage-listed Spotswood Pumping Station while also building students’ understanding of the importance of sewerage systems, and how they fit into the water cycle.

This resource is designed to be used pre- or post- visit.

Use these multiple-choice questions to test students’ understanding before experiencing FlushBack and then again after playing. 

Alternatively, use the multiple-choice questions as a way to summarise the content of FlushBack after playing the game. 

In this activity students will   

  • Build an understanding of the importance of sewage systems.
  • Cement their knowledge of urban and natural water cycles.
  • Learn about the history of sanitation and sewage in Melbourne.
  • Consider some of the challenges involved in treating and recycling water

Suggested questions to engage students  

  • What role does the sewage system plays in our daily lives?
  • What would life have been like in Melbourne before the sewage system was built?
  • What are the biggest the challenges faced by those maintaining Melbourne’s sewage system?
