Major Prize

The Major Prize is $20,000 and covers the commission of the proposed piece and its acquisition into the State of Victoria Gold Jewellery Collection.

Applying for the Major Prize

Applications should demonstrate a creative and engaged response to the collection, be conceptually developed and offer a high-level critique of chosen elements within the collection.

The Major Prize is intended for jewellers and creative practitioners with demonstrated expertise in their medium and substantial professional experience.

Applications must include the following:

  • A visual representation of the proposed creation (sketch, image or plan) which communicates the concept design clearly.

  • A written statement of no more than 400 words describing the concept, techniques and materials used, and how the work responds to the State of Victoria Gold Jewellery Collection.

  • A written statement of no more than 400 words describing the fabrication plan for the work, including how the applicant plans to make the work and if the applicant will sub-contract any part of the production process to a professional maker or jeweller.

  • An up-to-date CV.
