Right fire for right Country

Listen as Dave Wandin explains how cultural burning protects Country.

Burning Country, people don’t understand our reason for burning. We burnt the floor of the bush and you kept it clean, 'cause that’s where the fires start.

We burn the grasses, so we never burn the trees. We really only burn the grasses. We burn to protect the trees, so they can be healthy to have the homes that the birds, and the reptiles and the bats and insects live in.

But it is about having sustainable land. It is about protecting an asset. And Country, for Aboriginal People, is our biggest asset.
