Connecting with my Ancestors

Listen as Barry Gilson explains how singing connects him to his Ancestors and Country.

[SINGING IN WADAWURRUNG. CLAPSTICKS PLAYING] Singing is the biggest part of me. I’ve always been a singer. It wasn’t about fame and fortune to me. It was all about connecting with my Ancestors and the nature of everything that was all within me.

So my singing, I feel it just resonates and it puts me in a spot where I get these feelings that I've never felt before. And I don't get it when I just sing normal English language. I get it when I sing my language, because it's like they're listening to me. It's like they're all waiting for me. It’s in the landscape, all the stories. I am here to sing back our story into our landscape. Our landscape. [SINGING IN WADAWURRUNG. CLAPSTICKS PLAYING]
