Melbourne Museum Plaza to host World premiere of interactive football exhibition for 2018 FIFA World Cup season
The Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events, John Eren, has confirmed that Real Madrid World of Football Experience will make its exciting World premiere in Melbourne this June, bringing football fever to the city ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Melbourne will be the first city in the world to experience the new, state-of-the-art, touring football experience and exhibition about the greatest football club on Earth.
Real Madrid C.F., honoured by FIFA as the Best Club of the 20th Century, has won a record 12 European Club Championships and 33 Spanish Club Championships. Real Madrid World of Football Experience allows visitors to explore behind the scenes, feel the atmosphere and discover the culture of team as they go on a journey into over 116 years of sporting history.
Presented by two leading Australian entertainment companies, iEC Exhibitions! and TEG, and supported by Visit Victoria, Real Madrid World of Football Experience has been designed to engage football and sporting fans of all ages.
Housed under the roof of a massive 50m x 30m (1,600 sqm) touring pavilion, located on the Melbourne Museum Plaza, it will feature unique physical and digital interactive experiences, an immersive 360˚ cinematic match day experience, an EA Sports FIFA Arena and a stunning collection of their most famous trophies and memorabilia.
The club’s remarkable 12 UEFA Champions trophies, the FIFA Club of the Century trophy, and the most treasured Ballon d’Or and Golden Boot trophies will all be on display together for the first time ever outside Madrid
"We’re honoured Real Madrid has chosen Melbourne to make its world premiere of the Real Madrid World of Football Experience in June," Minister Eren, said. "Real Madrid are a titan of world football, and are no stranger to Melbourne – thrilling thousands of loyal fans at the MCG in 2015."
The Real Madrid World of Football Experience offers four unique visitor zones:
The Exhibition Zone offers incredible audio-visual displays and interactive technology to discover the clubs’ historical journey and its unrivalled victories. Original memorabilia and trophies populate this visually spectacular zone.
In the 360° Cinematic Match Day Experience Zone, visitors feel the passion and adrenaline pumping energy of match day from across the ages at Real Madrid’s famous home - Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Geoff Jones, CEO of TEG, said, "The visitor experience will be a truly innovative way for Real Madrid C.F. to connect with its huge global fan base across Australia, Asia, and the Americas. Before this touring experience was devised, the only way to see first-hand the remarkable history of Real Madrid C.F. and its players was to visit the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium."
"Real Madrid C.F. has an incredible community of fans across the globe, with over 600 million fans worldwide, their fan base is unsurpassed by any other football club," said Tony Cochrane, Founding Director of iEC Exhibitions!. "However, Real Madrid World of Football Experience will not just target the Real Madrid C.F. community; it has been designed to attract and engage all fans of football, and sport, throughout the world. We are incredibly excited to start the world tour in Melbourne, a city that understands the place of sporting giants," Mr Cochrane added.
