VCE VET Engineering Studies students develop, plan and manufacture functional engineering products.

This allows them to demonstrate a range of engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge, including an understanding of engineering materials and components, production of engineering drawings, use of hand and power tools, fabrication techniques, machining processes and engineering computations. The selected works are excellent examples of such products.

Slide Out Cooking Drawer

Aluminium sheet, drawer slides, hinges, rivets, nutserts, bolts

My project is a slide-out cooking drawer for the back of a ute or car. It has 3 drawers for storing pots, pans, cooking utensils and other cooking items. It also has designated space for a gas cook top and washing tub. The slide-out cooking drawer allows me to cook and clean with ease as it is mostly set up and just needs to be pulled out.

Portable Grill Barbecue

Mild steel, pop rivets, heat-resistant black spray paint, washers

This project is a coal barbecue designed to withstand high temperatures while still being convenient. It has strong, durable legs that keep the assembly stable, but can be folded and carried with a handle, allowing it to be used in any location. It has a slide-out tray for easy access to coals, and a grill piece that can also be removed for cleaning. Because this barbecue is portable, it is perfect for camping, or even just for use in your own backyard.

Bass Drum Pedal

Aluminium, stainless steel, 3D-printed nylon

A custom Bass Drum Pedal with unique design features such as a 3D-printed cam and beater holder aims to reduce production costs. It features an adjustable beater angle system, adjustable chain length and interchangeable cam which enable near-endless configurations for personal set up preferences.
