Opening at Melbourne Museum from 1 April 2026, ROME: Empire, Power, People will explore the rise, rule, and legacy of one of history’s most formidable civilisations.  
 
As a vibrant exploration of Rome’s history and cultural life, a private viewing of this exhibition paired with a tailored function at Melbourne Museum will create an elevated evening and unforgettable guest experience for any event.

Showcasing more than 150 objects depicting Ancient Rome’s political, social and spiritual worlds, these items will be on display exclusively in Melbourne for the first time ever.  
 
Designed by Museums Victoria and developed in collaboration with Contemporanea Progetti, as well as curators from Museo Nazionale Romano and Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Firenze, Rome: Empire, Power, People will draw on the extraordinary collections of two of Italy’s most prestigious museums for this never-before seen exhibition.
