Planetarium closure 10 February-9 March 2019: We are excited to announce the Melbourne Planetarium will be upgrading its state-of-the-art visual system to one that is brighter and three times the resolution of the current system. The upgraded system will give you an even better, immersive and awe-inspiring astronomical experience. The Planetarium will be closed during this period. Be the first to book our new Planetarium show Moonbase ONE and experience the difference with the new visual system.

All-sky astronomy is a new way of looking at the sky to better understand our Universe

Produced in partnership with the ARC Centre of Excellence for All-Sky Astrophysics (CAASTRO), this new planetarium show highlights current research being carried out by astronomers within Australia.

New and innovative telescopes such as SkyMapper in NSW and the Murchison Wide-field Array in WA, have been designed to survey large sections of the sky. They are finding things we’ve never seen before and will help us to better understand our Universe.

Narrated by award-winning Australian Actor Geoffrey Rush.

Suitable for ages 8 years and up.

Please note: sessions during school hours may include school groups.
