Unleash your creativity in Melbourne Museum's Digital Art Class! Each month offers a fresh theme, from ancient fossils and dazzling minerals to delicate feathers, vibrant insects, and even fashion inspired by the museum’s extraordinary collection.
This month we will be drawing inspiration from Museum Victoria’s bird collection. This collection is a vibrant showcase of Australia’s diverse avian life, capturing the remarkable variety in colour, size, and form. From the dazzling plumage of parrots to the subtle tones of native songbirds, each specimen tells a story of adaptation and habitat.
In the museum’s Digital Art Class, participants can explore this collection through digital drawing, using iPad Pros to recreate the intricate details of each bird’s feathers, beak, and eyes. These classes, held in the museum’s Learning Lab, are open to all skill levels and provide an immersive experience, combining artistic techniques with scientific observation. Guided by expert instructors, participants learn to capture the unique essence of each bird digitally, whether focusing on the vibrant colours of a kingfisher or the delicate patterns on a wren’s feathers. This class is a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in blending art, nature, and technology, all while gaining new digital skills inspired by the beauty of Museum Victoria’s bird collection.
