Museums Victoria launches curriculum-aligned digital education program to support learning from home
Learn and play with Museums Victoria
As parents and teachers across Victoria adjust to a new way of learning this school term, Museums Victoria has launched a digital education program on their new online portal Museum at Home. Developed by Museums Victoria’s education experts, the curriculum aligned program is designed to support teachers, students and families as they face unprecedented new learning challenges.
Delivered via two education streams, Museum at Home Learning and Museum at Home Play, the program will explore a weekly museum theme throughout the term with content related to science, humanities and STEM.
Museum at Home Learning is a weekly rich learning education program developed by the Museums Victoria education team. Every week curriculum-linked resources will be shared online to assist teachers and engage students with a range of educational activities for kinder, primary school and high school students.
Museum at Home Play features fun play-based learning activities developed by Scienceworks and Melbourne Museum to inspire families and kids. Families can enjoy weekly creative hands-on learning with project ideas, fun facts and videos inspired by Museum Victoria's collections and exhibitions.
Over the coming weeks, IMAX will make a number of giant screen documentaries available via complimentary remote access for students and educators. Documentaries will align with the existing Victorian STEM curriculum, bringing natural environments to life through immersive visual spectacles that offer students and educators an engaging educational opportunity while learning from home.
Linda Sproul, Director of Experience and Engagement at Museums Victoria said that Museums Victoria is committed to helping teachers, students and families as they navigate unchartered territory.
“Museums Victoria has always maintained a strong connection to our schools; sharing our trusted knowledge and nurturing discovery and curiosity is at the heart of what we do. Together these digital education resources provide accessible content and experiences to support at-home learning and offer unique engagement with our museums’ collections and stories,” she said.
Week One of Museum at Home Learning and Museum at Home Play is now live.
