Education & Access
We believe every Victorian should have access to the knowledge and unique, hands-on learning experiences that our museums and outreach provide.
In FY 2022–23 we welcomed over 2.7 million visitors across our museums and provided more than 290,000 students and teachers, and 2,463 schools, kindergartens and education organisations, with enriching education experiences.
By engaging our visitors with expert research, museum collections and unique learning experiences, Museums Victoria is building a skilled and passionate next generation, equipped with the creativity and problem-solving skills to address the challenges of tomorrow.
Children and families experiencing disadvantage can encounter barriers to accessing learning experiences at museums and cultural institutions.
Museums Victoria is committed to addressing financial, geographic and language barriers to accessing our museums through a suite of initiatives including outreach programs, multilingual content, and subsidised or free access for school students. We prioritise schools that have high numbers of students experiencing social disadvantage based on the Student Family Occupation Education (SFOE) index, and who have not visited our museums in the past two years.
