Overview

There’s no better way to prep for an excursion than to experience it yourself! Join this teacher professional learning session and get exclusive time in our new special exhibition, Colour: See the World in a New Light. Bring along your family or friends to explore the origins of colour and light in the natural and human-made world.

After a play in the exhibit, sit down with Scienceworks educators to learn about exhibit themes, curriculum links and colour and light themed classroom activities.

This professional learning session includes

  • A tour and play in Colour before the museum opens!
  • Presentation of themes and supporting classroom activities and demos
  • Related Victorian Curriculum Links 2.0
  • Hands-on engagement with Colour classroom activities and demos

Teachers will be provided

  • Family pass for the day - Includes ticket to Scienceworks general entry and Colour exhibition for professional learning ticket holder plus 1 other adult and up to 3 children
  • Tour of Colour gallery and access to gallery before museum opening hours
  • Colour Teacher Resource with Colour classroom activities

FAQ

This is a family friendly event. Your family/ friends are welcome to join you for the tour and play in the Colour exhibit. Your children are also welcome to join for the presentation of the classroom activities and demonstrations and experiment with the activities. If you have brought another carer with you, they are welcome to go explore the rest of Scienceworks while you attend the presentation. 

No. You can bring another teacher friend if you like or come solo

Yes. From 9-10am only Colour gallery access is granted as the museum does not open until 10am. After 10am your family (with a carer) is welcome to explore the museum for the rest of the day. Scienceworks is open until 4:30PM

No. The extra passes (1 adult and 3 children) are only valid on the day of the professional learning.
