Learning to dance was an important part of growing up in Victoria in the early to mid 1900s. Many children learnt dance at school or were taught it by family members. Men and women attended dance classes, eager to improve their skills and learn the latest dance steps.
'Dance hall days' focuses on dance halls in Victoria from the 1920s to 1950s. The objects, photographs and music are intended as stimulus for reminiscing sessions.
Participants’ memories will be triggered by handling and discussing the objects in this kit. Themes for discussion include music, dances, bands, venues, fashion, transport and other forms of entertainment.
This kit is specifically designed for activity coordinators to use in reminiscing sessions. It is suitable for aged care groups only.
