Abstract
The morphological characters of the egg masses of some aquatic insects are presented, with
particular emphasis on the Trichoptera. Diagnostic features that can separate taxa are described
in detail for two categories of egg mass shape: two-dimensional plaques attached to hard
substrates and egg balls. Where egg masses occur and how they may be found are also
discussed.
