From the Bog to the Biobank

A Quest to Understand Victoria's Endangered Frogs

Dr Jane Melville and Dr Joanna Sumner

How do you find small, secretive frogs when it’s pitch black and you're among dense reeds in a bog? Join researchers Dr Jane Melville and Dr Joanna Sumner as they discuss their three-year mission to ensure the survival of these threatened amphibians.

This talk, featuring live frogs and their calls, follows their path of discovery from field trips in the state's east, to work in the museum's research lab and liquid nitrogen Biobank facility, all to gain a better understanding of the genetic diversity and health of Victoria's frog populations.
