The Education Outreach Summer Program sought to benefit from both organisations' capabilities by working in partnership. The program was delivered over two summers and began with professional learning days. Together, Museums Victoria and Hume City Council Library staff were able to share program content, practice ways of presenting the community with the content and discuss key elements for improvement and adapting resources.

The teams then co-delivered Museums Victoria Outreach programs in languages other than English at Hume City Council Library locations.

Summer programs averaged 165 people participating in each library event across five branches (Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Gladstone Park, Sunbury and Tullamarine).

Welcome to Scienceworks
STEM Catalyst and Culture Makers

Arjumand Khan delivered two Welcome to Scienceworks events for families. The events included bus travel from Broadmeadows Library to Scienceworks to address the transport barrier that families can experience when participating in site-based activities.

Museums Victoria partnered with Hume City Council Libraries to deliver the Welcome to Scienceworks activities together, including event bookings and promotion through familiar local library locations.

Arjumand Khan is the director of STEM Catalyst. STEM Catalyst has led the effort to promote and advocate for STEM literacy in culturally and linguistically diverse communities by offering free STEM-based activities to community members from a range of backgrounds. They are role models for new communities to support education and gender equity.

Ticket distribution to new audiences

Free program tickets to National Science Week events for families were generously donated by the Royal Society of Victoria. Through our partnership with Hume City Council Libraries, these tickets were distributed to families in the Hume Council region. It was wonderful to see the impact of so many new audience members at our National Science Week events.
