Accessible Visitation & Multilingual Outreach

Accessible Visitation

In March 2024, Museums Victoria established the Learning Access Fund to enhance access to our museums, programs and events for schools and community groups who may experience barriers to visiting our museum. Free general entry was made available to eligible new migrant communities and language groups. Eligible community groups are now permanently able to register.

As part of the Accessible Visitation initiative, a Melbourne Museum venue map was translated into 26 languages including: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Cook Islands Māori (Rarotongan), Croatian, Farsi (Persian), Filipino, French, Greek, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Nepali, Punjabi, Samoan, Sinhalese, Somali, Spanish, Tamil, Turkish, Urdu and Vietnamese.

Multilingual Outreach

Museums Victoria established a communication outreach program targeted at new community networks to consolidate and grow audiences. The Multilingual Outreach aims to promote our Accessible Visitation program and listen to barriers to audience pathways, as well as promote employment, volunteering and paid work placements opportunities.
