Social story for sleepovers at Scienceworks

I am going for a sleepover at the Scienceworks museum with my class, teachers and helpers.

I will be going on a bus with people who will be at the sleepover.

I will have a sleeping bag, my pyjamas, toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush and anything else I might need for the night with me in a bag.

I will arrive at 7pm at the Scienceworks main entrance.

Scienceworks staff and volunteers will meet me and show me to my sleeping area.

There are a few rooms to sleep in at Scienceworks.

My teacher will show me which room I will be in for the night.

My bag and sleeping bag will be taken off the bus and put on a trolley and taken down to the room where I will be sleeping.

At 7.30pm I will go to the Planetarium. The Planetarium is a theatre where the seats move back so I can watch a show on the ceiling. The teacher will choose which planetarium show I will watch to learn about Melbourne’s night sky.

I will be given an inflated mat to sleep on for the night.

At 7.30pm I will go to the Planetarium.

The Planetarium is a theatre where the seats move back so I can watch a show projected on the ceiling.

The teacher will choose which Planetarium show I will watch to learn about Melbourne’s night sky.

After the Planetarium show, I will go to the Sportsworks exhibition.

I can try different activities like running and learn about sports.

After spending time in Sportsworks, I will go back to the sleeping area for a snack of sweet biscuits and a fruit-juice drink.

After supper, I might watch a movie on a big screen.

The teacher will choose the movie I will watch.

After the movie, I will clean my teeth, put on my pyjamas and get ready to sleep.

I will get into my sleeping bag and sleep all night if I can.

If I am cold or worried, I can tell my teacher.

I will wake up at 7am in the morning, get dressed, pack my pyjamas and anything else I have brought with me into my bag and help to pack up the sleeping mats.

I will be taken to the Scienceworks café to eat breakfast.

After breakfast, I will go to see some of the exhibitions in Scienceworks.

When my teacher tells me we are ready to leave, I will collect my belongings. I will help to load the bus if I am asked by my teacher and then I will leave Scienceworks.
