Terms, Conditions & Privacy Collection Notice | Museum Sleepovers
These Terms and Conditions are designed to ensure guests have a safe and enjoyable stay. Please read them carefully. You must agree to them before making your reservation and when confirming your booking by completing the relevant confirmation boxes.
Who can attend?
- Currently Museum Members are entitled to book tickets for sleepovers at the Melbourne Museum.
- Please note that places are limited, to avoid disappointment, book as soon as possible.
- Participants must be between 5 to 12 years of age (excluding accompanying adults). All children must be accompanied by a paying adult.
- Parents or adult guardians must take responsibility for participating children at all times.
- Each adult can be accompanied by up to three children.
- This is a family event, adults may not attend unless participating with children.
Consent forms
- All participants must complete a consent form.
- Children's consent forms must be filled in by the child's legal guardian.
- These forms [including waiver of liability to link] will need to be sent with the booking confirmation.
Bookings details
- Bookings are required as places are limited for these special events.
Food and beverage
- No outside food is to be brought on site by visitors but we do ask that you bring a bottle of water for the night.
- No food or drink can be taken into the gallery and exhibition spaces.
- Alcohol and illegal substances are strictly forbidden and must not be brought onto the Museum premises. We reserve the right to search your bags and test your liquids and confiscate any alcohol or illegal substances. In extreme circumstances, anyone behaving inappropriately, for alcohol-related reasons or otherwise, may be removed from the event at the discretion of Museums Victoria.
Event
- The Museum reserves the right to make any necessary changes to the event as required, such as adjusting the locations, timing or content of the activities.
- All participants must agree to follow any instructions or warnings issued by Museums Victoria staff.
- The event will begin at 6:30pm. Entry will not be permitted after 7:30pm
- Photos can only be used for personal purposes. The publication, distribution, or reproduction of these photographs for commercial or promotional purposes is prohibited.
- Participants grant Museums Victoria permission to utilise their image or likeness for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to, its ordinary Museum services, education, media and promotion.
Safety and liability
- Participants voluntarily assume all risks and danger in any way connected to entering the Museum premises. Participants agree that Museums Victoria and employees are expressly released from any claims or damages arising from such causes.
- Footwear must be worn at all times throughout the Museum, unless otherwise directed.
- Museums Victoria is not liable for lost or stolen property. Personal items should not be left unattended.
Cancellation policy
- Museums Victoria may choose to cancel specific sleepover dates due to extreme weather events or insufficient bookings. If possible, you will be notified in advance and rebooked for another day, or payment will be refunded.
- If you need to cancel for any reason other than illness, compassionate grounds or other extreme circumstances, the following cancellation terms apply:
- Refund or reschedule (if available) for cancellations made at least fourteen (14) days prior to the event date.
- No refund or reschedule for cancellations made less than fourteen (14) days prior to the event date.
Important things you need to know
- Wear flat, enclosed shoes
- This is a no smoking and no alcohol event
- Please allow sufficient time for parking and entering the Museum.
- We advise you to pack your car with additional items you may need, as you will have access to your vehicle during your stay.
Privacy Collection notice
Museums Victoria is collecting your personal information, that is your name, age, email address, phone number, dietary requirements, accessibility needs, parent and guardian consent to ensure the health and safety of all guests who attend the program. If you do not provide this information, then we will not be in a position to confirm a place for you at this event.
Museums Victoria will store your personal information securely and will not share this information with any other party except as required or authorised by law.
