With three hours of child-free access to Melbourne Museum after-hours and a full program of fun activities for adults, Nocturnal has you covered for a unique date night or a Thursday night out with friends.

This month artistry and design take centre stage with expert led talks and tours, craft activities and more. Choose your own adventure with two levels of exhibitions.

Make wearable art to take home. Start the weekend early and enjoy food, signature cocktails and music until 9pm. Full Program and tickets launching in soon.

    Top Designs 2025 celebrates the innovation of Victoria’s VCE and VCE VET design students, offering insight into the future of socially conscious and responsive design.

    First Peoples

    Through the voices and languages of the south-eastern First Peoples community, the First Peoples exhibition celebrates the cultures of First Peoples with its rich traditions of performance, storytelling, artwork, and knowledge sharing, set against the history of survival throughout the ongoing impacts of colonisation.

    Melbourne Story is packed with icons of the city's past and present – tales of heroes and scoundrels, growth and decline, and the changing ways Melburnians live, work and play.

    An immersive voyage into a lost world to explore the landscapes of the Cretaceous and get to know the creatures that thrived there.

    Walk past the skeletons of 17 prehistoric animals through Dinosaur Walk, discover the origin of life in Victoria told through fossils, models, animatronics and animations, and see a world of insects, spiders, snails and other invertebrates in Bugs Alive!

    We are all part of a dynamic web of life. Journey through the unique environment of the Murray River in this immersive infinity projection that explores how all life is connected and dependent on a healthy environment to thrive, made in collaboration with First Peoples community members exploring their close connections to the land, animals, plants and rivers of Victoria.

    Custom made high-fidelity vintage sound system New Flower presents local Colombian DJ group Aprieta Collective, for three hours of upbeat Caribbean and Afro-Caribbean tunes.

    Secret Library

    6 to 9pm | Between 600 Million years and Bugs Alive, Ground Level | Rare Books
    Literature and craftsmanship collide in treasures from Museums Victoria’s Rare Book Collection. Meet our Library Staff and learn about the handmade aspects of old books.

    Nests & Webs

    6 to 9pm | Science & Life Gallery, Ground Level | Live Exhibits
    Meet our Live Exhibits Staff and learn about the bespoke architecture of the animal world.

    Mini Silent Disco

    6 to 9pm | AVIE, Dynamic Earth, Ground Level | Mini-Silent Disco
    Enter the Green Ants’ Nest, a mini silent disco inspired by nature’s ultimate architects. Slip on your headphones and lose yourself in 3-channels of classics curated by No Lights No Lycra.
