Victoria is best placed to lead the transition to a circular clothing economy, with the most complete fashion supply chain in Australia, however there is a pressing need for designers and brands to be supported to build circular business models, and consumers to be inspired to change their shopping behaviours.
This panel discussion, guided by Sustainability Victoria, will dive into examples of the circular economy in action, threading change towards a more sustainable future for fashion and the planet. Learn about the business models, practices and technological shifts leading the circular fashion revolution.

Maggie Zhou Maggie Zhou is a Melbourne-based writer, editor, slow fashion advocate and the co-host of the Culture Club podcast. She's written for publications such as The Guardian, ABC, The Age, Frankie, The Big Issue, ELLE, Harper's Bazaar and Cosmopolitan, and has been interviewed by the BBC, ABC, Nylon, The Project and Teen Vogue. She's previously held positions at Fashion Journal and Refinery29.
Courtney Holm
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND FOUNDER, CIRCULAR SOURCING
Courtney Holm Courtney Holm is a circular fashion systems designer, thought leader and entrepreneur. Courtney founded experimental circular fashion label A.BCH in 2017 and built it into a world leading example of what circular fashion could be. In early 2024, she made a strategic decision to step away from making new clothes in order to build her climate-tech startup Circular Sourcing and transition A.BCH into a circular design innovation firm (A.BCH World).
Jackie King
PART OWNER AND OPERATOR, REMOTE REPAIRS
Jackie King Jackie King is part owner and operator of Remote Repairs and is a passionate sustainability advocate with over 15 years of experience within the circular economy assisting brands and distributors to meet their sustainability goals. Specialising in reducing textile waste from landfill through product assessment, grading, repairs and restoration of outdoor adventure equipment and a broad range of apparel.
Professor Alice Payne
DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF FASHION AND TEXTILES, RMIT
Professor Alice Payne Alice’s research focuses on environmental and social sustainability issues throughout the life cycle of clothing. Recent work has examined labour issues in the cotton value chain, technologies to address the problem of textile waste, consumer practices for circularity, and circular design. She is author of the book Designing Fashion’s Future, co-editor of Global Perspectives on Sustainable Fashion, and is an award-winning designer and educator.
