Information for your visit
Melbourne Museum actively promotes the management of a COVID Safe environment for all visitors and staff. Our COVID Safe plan reflects the most up-to-date public health directions.
The health and safety of all our visitors, staff and volunteers is our highest priority and we have some measures in place in line with Victorian Government guidelines:
We need your help
Don't forget to wear your face mask, and practice physical distancing and good hand hygiene. If you’re unwell, please rest up at home and visit us when you are well again. Please check the latest exposure sites before visiting and follow health directions accordingly.
You must pre-book a ticket to the Children’s Gallery
Due to capacity limits, you must reserve a free, 50-minute entry slot to the Pauline Gandel Children’s Gallery in addition to your general admission ticket. Please book one session per visit date only so all families have adequate chance to access this gallery. If you do not pre-book your ticket, unfortunately we cannot guarantee that you will be able to access this part of the museum.
Please aim to keep your visit under 90 minutes
To help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, timed tickets are in operation and we're asking all visitors to try to limit their museum visit to 90 minutes.
For those booking a ticket to Treasures of the Natural World, please plan for 90 minutes in the exhibition and 90 minutes to explore the rest of Melbourne Museum.
Increased safety measures
All galleries are open with restricted visitor numbers in enclosed spaces and increased cleaning, hygiene and physical distancing measures in place. We have temporarily removed tactile play-based learning objects and closed the climbing net in the Children's Gallery. We have currently paused tours and the provision of cloaking service.
We're currently cashless across our venues – including shops and cafes.
In line with Victorian Government guidelines, you will be asked to complete contact tracing via the Service Victoria contact tracing portal as you arrive at Melbourne Museum. We suggest downloading the Service Victoria app in advance of arrival to help make your entry as efficient as possible.
