Across Victoria, amazing people and organisations are involved in research, campaigns and hands-on action to help us better understand and protect our unique environments. Find out about the issues affecting our special places and the plants and animals that live in them, and discover some ways you can help. 

Museums Victoria scientists and volunteers research our region’s biodiversity, creating knowledge that is critical to understanding how we can best conserve and protect our environment and its diverse fauna.

Australasian Wader Studies Group

A special interest group of Birdlife Australia dedicated to the study and conservation of shorebirds throughout the East-Asian Australasian Flyway. Volunteers can assist with population monitoring counts.

Birdlife Australia

Is a membership organisation which promotes the conservation of Australian native birds. Volunteers can get involved in fieldwork and conservation projects across Victoria and Australia.

Coastcare

Coastcare is community volunteers caring for their coast. Coastcare volunteers identify local environmental problems and work together to achieve practical solutions.

Conservation Volunteers

This website has a listing of a wide range of conservation opportunities for volunteers around Australia. It is a central place for people to see what is available in their area and book online.

Regent Honeyeater Project

Is a volunteer conservation project restoring box-ironbark habitat for endangered species in the Benalla area of Victoria. Help with tree planting, seed collecting and nest-box surveys.

Victorian National Parks Association

A VNPA memberships provides opportunities to enjoy Victoria's national parks through bushwalking and other outdoor activities as well as being actively involved in conservation projects.

Environmental opportunities and stories published by the  Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.

Victorian Wader Studies Group

This volunteer organisation is dedicated to the monitoring of migrant and resident species of waders. Volunteers can assist with shorebird surveys.
